On April 26-28, 2019, one of the largest fantasy festivals in Poland – Pyrkon took place at the Poznań International Fair. For over 55 hours, as a student club of CDV Game Wizards, we were part of this extraordinary event.
“Pyrkon is a place that connects people in an amazing way,” says Michał Wieczorek from Game Wizards. “At one party, people who are completely different from each other play, laugh, dance, create and work – people who in the normal world would probably not look at each other at all!”

In the Fantastic Initiatives Zone, our student club could present itself to the visitors. Pyrkon visitors could play our games, get to know us and see what we do, as well as join the student club at CDV.
Our stand looked really beautiful – the walls were decorated with posters from our Game Wizards meetings, from the series of events in CDV called “Interactions”, posters promoting our games and interesting guests. You could play our games on three computers, one of which was displayed on the TV set. People at the stand were dressed in T-shirts with the logo of the wheel, and the roll-up with a magician attracted our guests like a magnet!
Over the past few months, we’ve been working bravely on projects to be able to finally present them. The following games appeared at our stand:
- “Childhood” – a game about children’s imagination in 1vs1 mode; We play the role of a child on the playground, and the items we collect become our weapon – the stick becomes a sword and the pine cone becomes a magic bullet. Also remember that the floor is lava!
- “Kulka” – a memory and skill game. In this game we have to find the right way by controlling the ball on the chessboard. However, we must watch out for the changing colors of the fields, which can confuse us before taking the right route.
- “Synth 01” – an action RPG shooter set in a cyberpunk atmosphere. The action takes place in a world dominated by soulless corporations, ruled by corruption and corruption. We play the role of a commando – Scott Farrell, who chases criminal organizations in search of revenge.
Game authors:
“Childhood” – the main project of the Game Wizards student club, projected by 18 people
“Kulka” – Dawid Matuszewski and Michał Stawski
“Synth01” – Deep Shift Games
card game project – Agnieszka Pelczyk, Olga Kruczek, Dawid Matuszewski
There is also a card game project about brave hamsters fighting against enemies such as dust kittens, a vacuum cleaner or a gang of rats. Visitors could view the cards we have prepared, share their opinion and advise what we can change and what they like. A cosplay of two hamster characters was also prepared, which not only was to promote the game, but also attracted eyes and people to the entire Game Wizards stand.
The entire Fantastic Initiatives Zone was an amazing place with amazing people. Our stand was located around other student clubs from all over Poland. “I liked exchanging experiences in the field of projects / meetings with people and other clubs,” says Sara Raczak. “Pyrkon has opened many doors for us, both for further exhibiting at it, and offers for cooperation or assistance in projects from other people. We dealt with both players and experienced game developers ”- adds Dawid Matuszewski, founder of the Game Wizards club.
We have certainly enlarged the group of our friends, and also received an amazing dose of positive emotions and feedback regarding our projects. Anyone who is interested in anything related to broadly understood fantasy, we highly recommend going to Pyrkon at least once and we guarantee that if you go once, you will stay there for years, and the experiences and people you meet may stay with us for life.
