The first month of study in the new academic year is behind us. We believed and hoped that we would be able to meet within the walls of the university. Well … It happened otherwise. As they say, what is delayed does not run away.
We were curious how students (especially our first-year students) perceive online learning and how they deal with the inability to get to know their classmates directly.
We are calm and full of positive energy. Thanks to such opinions, we believe that the work and effort put into enabling distance learning makes sense and motivates to further action.
Thank you students! #nasistudencinaszaduma
Students` comments
“I was very afraid of online classes, because I really appreciate contact with people. However, I took the risk and applied, and CDV fulfilled all its promises and provided me with the possibility of safe, effective and enjoyable learning. Classes are not just empty looking at the screen, the lecturers ensure constant interaction with all students. At this point, the lectures are a nice springboard from the restrictions, because finally, as students, we have the opportunity to see each other's faces. I am glad that despite the adversities, the process of my education has not stopped.
I believe we can do it. If not us, then who? Strength in the group!”

“As first-year students, when we switched to online learning, we were convinced that the level of education would certainly decline. However, the university and the lecturers make every effort to provide and implement tools that are commonly used in the IT industry in the current situation. Thanks to this, we not only attend classes, but also implement team projects of several people, having fun and gaining practical knowledge.”

“I admit that I was afraid of distance learning. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how it all looks in reality. Sometimes, despite sitting comfortably in front of my table, I feel like I'm at the university. Classes are conducted at a high level, despite the difficulties that limit us.”

“We were supposed to have the first four meetings offline prior to online meetings. The reality turned out to be different, it sped up the whole process and already the second weekend of classes welcomed us into the online world. I had some concerns about what it would look like. Especially looking at the specificity of the course that requires a lot of interaction with another human being, and separation by monitors limits this.
The lecturers and the methods of conducting individual subjects quickly dispelled my doubts. Creativity, passion, commitment. From Both sides: the lecturers and students. There is a reason why CDV is called the university of curious people - it is 100% confirmed in practice. The preservation of high-quality teaching and merits deserves special mention.
Of course I would prefer classes in the university building, but at the moment we have no choice but to adapt. In all this difficult situation, I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn new tools and for being part of an incredibly supportive community on the way to development.”

“In 2020, everything is different and not what we imagined it to be. Nevertheless, I am grateful that in the era of the Internet and universal digitization, I am able to continue my education and be in touch with my friends from the university at this uncertain time.
This year I celebrate Halloween in home isolation and my party will be on Instagram and Zoom. #StaySafe

“There is no substitute for meeting directly with another person. Nevertheless, distance learning surprised me with the fluidity of the classes. The courses are conducted in an accessible and interesting form, some of them are even so engaging that you almost forget about the fact that everything takes place in the privacy of your home. Lecturers do not lose their passion and willingness to share knowledge, therefore everything comes easily and naturally. The university prides itself on a high standard of education and I must admit that these are not just words taken to the wind. I rate it 5+ in terms of failure-free platform, commitment of all employees who quickly and willingly help us in any situation, preparation of teaching materials.”

“Undoubtedly, most of us miss the opportunity to meet at the university. It's hard to replace meetings with colleagues during breaks or a real interaction with the lecturer. Despite these hardships, distance learning is a very positive surprise. The commitment of some lecturers and the passion with which they talk about their fields can absorb and eliminate the sense of any distance. All technical problems are quickly solved, and for the scale of online classes, I find that there are very few of them anyway.”

“"In 2020 I will study online", if such an event was launched a year ago on Facebook, I would certainly find it absurd, and today ... we learn from laptops and work in groups at online conferences. Certainly, there is such disadvantage as lack of personal contact, but there are of course advantages: working in pajamas and no exams, but only practical projects! This is a fast-track course for organizing work at home. Who knows? Maybe someday I will work remotely?”

“Ah, here we go again. After a few days within the walls of CDV we are back to the online formula, this time even more prepared. As before, the lecturers are extremely involved and helpful, and the classes, despite the initial technical inconvenience, run smoothly.”

“I was skeptical about the quality of online classes. I was afraid that my studies would prove to be an expensive course, like the Udemy ones, before being discounted ...
In practice, the lectures exceeded my expectations. I have no concerns about the effectiveness of classes, lecturers are willing to discuss and ready for any challenge related to online teaching.
Easy access to all links allows you to move freely around the "e-university", and I spend the extra hours that I would spend moving around for work.
I am glad that my university is so well prepared in this respect.”
