At Collegium Da Vinci, we believe that the university is a place open for everyone, regardless of ability, diverse educational needs or life challenges. The Inclusion Centre is our space for support and solidarity. We provide conditions that allow you to learn to your full potential – in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.

Support for people with disabilities

Oferujemy Ci kompleksowe wsparcie, które umożliwia studiowanie na równych zasadach. Możesz skorzystać z:

  • We offer comprehensive support that enables you to study on equal terms. You can take advantage of:
  • adaptation of the education process – including appropriate teaching materials, additional time for classes and examinations, teaching and student assistance, sign language interpreter,
  • assistive software and equipment – FM system, magnification and sound amplification software, laptop, voice recorder, OCR scanner, 27″ screen magnifier, electronic magnifier, VisionBoard2 keyboards, dolphin keyboards, wireless Bigtrack,
  • individual study organization (in Polish IOS) – allows for flexible planning of credits and exams, and even suspension of the semester after prior application to the Dean,
  • health or studying leave – with the possibility of participating in selected classes after consultation with the Dean,
  • transport – support in commuting to the university for people who, due to physical limitations, cannot use public transport,
  • parking – people with physical disabilities can park in the car park in front of the university building (due to the limited number of parking spaces, priority is given to people with a significant degree of mobility impairment),
  • barrier-free building – classes are held in a building adapted to the needs and limitations resulting from individual needs (ramps, wide lifts, adapted toilets, sound systems in classrooms, wide corridors, classrooms labelled with Braille Alphabet).

Support for people with special educational and health needs

We understand the complexity of the needs of neurodiverse individuals (e.g. autism spectrum, ADHD), those suffering from mental health issues or cognitive and emotional difficulties:

  • you can count on adapted classes, individual support in learning and communication with lecturers – for example, through teaching or student assistance,
  • we provide psychological support – refunded sessions at the SWPS Clinic, depending on your needs,
  • we offer English language classes in small groups or individually, tailored to special educational needs,
  • we support you in your daily tasks – such as taking notes, getting around campus or using the infrastructure.

Support from assistants

The scope and type of assistant support is always determined together – the aim is to make you feel confident and provide you with the conditions to learn on your own terms.

Teaching assistance

A teaching assistant is someone who will accompany you in the process of opening up to new stages of life, supporting your independence and decision-making. They will help strengthen your strengths and provide support if you experience a crisis – for example, related to neurotypicality or transition.

What kind of help can you expect?

  • setting goals together,
  • building an academic and social development plan,
  • monitoring progress and adjusting strategies according to your needs,
  • safe support in difficult moments.

Student assistance

This is a student from your year or a higher year who supports you in your everyday life at the university – a buddy you can count on.

What kind of help can you expect?

  • support in getting to classes and moving between classrooms,
  • taking notes during lectures,
  • reminding you of deadlines and organizational matters,
  • translating instructions, helping you organize your materials,
  • support in integrating with the group or studying together.

Financing studies for persons with disabilities

As a person with a disability, you can take advantage of financial assistance for your studies.

Scholarships for persons with disabilities

  • are available to persons with a certified degree of disability,
  • are awarded for one year and paid in 9 installments (provided that the certificate is valid),
  • the amount of the scholarships is determined annually and depends on the subsidy awarded to our university for this purpose, the degree of disability does not affect the amount of the scholarship,
  • the scholarship is not available  for graduates of Bachelor’s degree programmes who are starting another Bachelor’s degree programme, or to persons with a Master’s degree who are pursuing one more degree programme (exception: disability occurred during studies or after obtaining a professional title).

PFRON

The State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled People  is currently implementing a pilot programme called ‘Active Local Government’, under which it is possible to apply for financial assistance during studies.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

  • Write to us or visit us in person. We will arrange a meeting, learn about your needs and decide together what form of support will be best.

  • Not always. Often, medical documentation confirming the diagnosis, e.g. in the field of autism spectrum disorder, ADHD or other difficulties affecting educational functioning, is sufficient.

  • The sooner, the better. You can contact us even before you start your studies, but if something unexpected happens during the semester, we will respond flexibly. During admission process, you can tick the checkbox: ‘I want to take advantage of the facilities offered by CDV for people with disabilities’.

  • No. We are available  for full-time, part-time and postgraduate students at every stage of their education.

  • We help you prepare for conversations with lecturers, if needed – we mediate in establishing work rules or support you during difficult moments. We are your allies

  • Yes. The library has voice recorders, magnifiers, and specialized keyboards available. You just need to contact us – we will advise you on what will be the best fit.

  • Yes. After submitting your application and talking to the Dean, you can suspend your participation in classes – without losing your place in the studies. We will help you through this process.

  • We are confident that with our help, you will do great – we are here to help you overcome any difficulties together. At the same time, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the set of competencies that are essential for applicants and students.
