Summary of Collegium Da Vinci’s activities during the PYRKON Fantasy Festival

On June 14-16, 2024, another edition of Pyrkon, one of the largest fantasy festivals in Europe, was held.

Fans of literature, games, cosplay and all forms of fantasy met in Poznan to immerse themselves in a magical world of imagination and creativity for three days. This year’s edition was exceptional not only because of the impressive number of participants, but also because of the numerous premieres and events in which Collegium Da Vinci played a key role.

The premiere of the anthology „PoznAI przyszłość. Opowiadania o umyśle i nauce”

One of the highlights of the festival was the premiere of the anthology „PoznAI przyszłość. Opowiadania o umyśle i nauce” , whose scientific patron is CDV. The book, the fruit of a collaboration between science fiction writers and scientists, explores the boundaries between science and fiction, presenting visions of the future based on modern scientific achievements.

Authors include Michal Cetnarowski, Magdalena Salik and Rafal Kosik – well-known and respected authors who perfectly combine literary talents with a passion for science.

Panel discussion on education of the future

Simultaneously with the book launch, Pyrkon hosted an important discussion on the future of education. The panel brought together experts and enthusiasts to consider how changing technology and science will affect the way we learn and teach. The event was moderated by Rector of Collegium Da Vinci PhD Marek Zielinski, professor at CDV, who passionately guided the conversation among the participants: Michał Cetnarowski, Magdalena Salik and Rafał Kosik.

The panelists touched on topics related to education in the age of digitization, the role of AI in teaching and the need to develop the competencies of the future among young people. The discussion was full of inspiring ideas and practical tips on how to prepare for the challenges of the coming world.

CDV’s booth at Pyrkon

Throughout the festival, the CDV booth in Hall 3 attracted the attention of attendees thanks to its attractive offer. Members of the Level UP student club enthusiastically invited guests to use the free photo booth, where everyone could immortalize their Pyrkon memories. The booth was also a great opportunity to learn more about the wide range of majors offered by CDV.

Fantasy enthusiasts had the opportunity to talk to college representatives about learning opportunities in areas related to modern technology, art and business. For many young people, it was an inspiring chance to explore new educational and professional paths.

Pyrkon was not only a celebration of fantasy, but also a platform for exchanging knowledge and inspiration about the future, in which Collegium Da Vinci played a significant role. The premiere of the anthology “PoznAI przyszłość”, a panel on education of the future and the involvement of CDV students and staff at the booth are evidence that the university is strongly committed to creating and promoting innovative solutions for education and science.
